A redundant loading bay roller door was replaced with a reception area feature wall consisting continuous translucent perimeter glazing around a central solid wall and window. This aspect of the design was inspired by the work of architect Tadao Ando within his Church with the Light Ibaraki, Osaka 1987-89.
Existing private stairs and services were concealed from public access via a timber frame partition. Observation and interaction is afforded by a continuous open window in the partition. Ceiling height is maintained, though structural ceiling beams and services are semi-concealed via plaster portals.
